Chipping Program Kicks Off:
A Community Effort for Wildfire Safety The Plumas County Fire Safe Council’s Chipping Program opened for sign-ups on February 14th, and the response has been overwhelming! In just five days, 135 residents signed up, demonstrating our community’s strong commitment to wildfire preparedness.
What’s Next?
The first round of chipping begins May 27th – June 6th in the communities of Twain, Indian Valley, Genesee, Lake Almanor, and Chester. This program helps residents safely dispose of brush and branches, reducing hazardous fuels around homes and neighborhoods.
Ensuring Fair Access for All
To ensure the program is accessible to as many residents as possible, we invite each participant to register for up to two (2) chipping slots per session. This will accommodate up to two piles of yard waste, each measuring 16 feet long and 4 feet high. If you have additional material beyond this limit, we recommend reaching out to MountainCraft Landscaping, our contracted chipping provider, at (530) 616-8557, or contacting another local landscaping service.
Why This Matters
Every pile chipped is one step closer to a safer, more fire-resilient community. Your participation directly supports the mission of the Plumas County Fire Safe Council—helping residents reduce fuels and mitigate wildfire risk.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for taking action to protect our beautiful communities!
